Cashmere Care Guide

Our cashmere is sourced from the highest altitudes of the Himalayas and spun into ultra-fine yarns. With proper care, your Nyano garments will last a lifetime, becoming softer with every wash.

Washing

We recommend hand washing your cashmere in cold water using a mild, specialized cashmere shampoo or baby shampoo. Avoid harsh detergents or bleach.

  • Gently press the suds through the fabric; never wring, rub, or stretch it.
  • Rinse thoroughly in clean, cold water until all soap is removed.
  • Do not use fabric softeners, as they can coat the natural fibers.

Drying

Never put cashmere in the dryer or hang it on a clothesline, as this will distort the shape.

  • Carefully lift the garment, supporting its weight, and lay it flat on a clean, dry towel.
  • Roll the towel up like a sleeping bag to absorb excess water.
  • Unroll and lay the garment flat on a fresh towel or drying rack in its natural shape, away from direct heat or sunlight.

Pilling

Pilling is a natural occurrence in all high-quality natural fibers, especially during the first few wears as the looser, shorter fibers migrate to the surface. We recommend using a cedar cashmere comb to gently brush away pills. After a few washes, pilling will significantly decrease.

Storage

Ensure your garment is completely clean before storing, as moths are attracted to body oils and perfume.

  • Store folded in a breathable cotton or canvas bag. Never hang cashmere, as it will stretch the shoulders.
  • Place cedar balls or lavender sachets near your garments to naturally repel moths.
